Andre Uhl

Connection Science Fellow
Andre Uhl is executive member at the Council on Extended Intelligence (CXI), a think and action tank co-hosted by the MIT Media Lab and the IEEE Standards Association promoting principles of responsible participant design, control of data rights, and holistic metrics of prosperity for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. 
At CXI, Andre leads CXI Labs, a global action research incubator that fosters new forms of dialogue and co-creation in public policy, corporate settings and community activism. Andre’s research at the Human Dynamics Group will explore and develop new approaches to open-innovation that demonstrate how CXI Labs can empower community guardianship in a broad range of contexts.
Besides his engagement with CXI and the Human Dynamics Group, Andre also chairs the IEEE Earth Lab and serves as the Technology and Innovation Fellow of the Planetary Health Alliance. Previously, he served as a research assistant at the Harvard-MIT Ethics and Governance of AI Initiative, a reviewer at the Technology and Public Purpose Project at Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, and founding member and co-chair of the Sustainable Peace Working Group at Harvard Divinity School. 
Andre holds an MA in New Media from Tokyo University of the Arts, Japan, and a BA in Visual Studies and East Asia Studies from FU Berlin, Germany. He will be completing a PhD at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in spring 2021.
